MAT involves a combination of prescription medication and counseling to treat addictions to heroin, prescription painkillers, and other opioids. Adults who take part in MAT at Evansville CTC receive a prescription for Suboxone, buprenorphine, naltrexone, or methadone depending on what their care team decides is best. These medications are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Adults also participate in individual and group therapy sessions, where they work with addiction specialists to get to the root cause of their struggles with opioid use disorder.
