At Elora Health and Wellness, board-certified family nurse practitioner Shakiraye Rookwood, DNP, FNP-BC, provides comprehensive primary care for residents in the Rockville Centre neighborhood of Long Island and throughout New York City. Shakiraye began her career pursuits at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz, earning her Bachelor of Arts in biology. She then enrolled at Pace University in New York City, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in family health, and a doctorate in nursing practice. In September 2022, Shakiraye opened Elora Health and Wellness to provide the best evidence-based and patient-centered care for people in and around Long Island. At Elora Health and Wellness, Shakiraye works with patients collaboratively, developing treatment plans that encourage informed health care decision-making. She takes a holistic and personalized treatment approach with patients, incorporating healthy lifestyle changes and routine preventive screenings. Shakiraye also prescribes medications but prefers alternatives when possible. As a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner, Shakiraye has the knowledge and expertise to treat various acute and chronic health problems, including bronchitis, flu, diabetes, and hypertension (high blood pressure). Patients visit Elora Health and Wellness for various medical services, including annual exams, Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, and STD testing. Shakiraye also provides women's health services that include Pap smears, breast exams, and referrals for mammograms. Shakiraye is a compassionate and altruistic provider.
